THE FOUNTAIN OF FAIR FORTUNE

258-the-fountain-of-fair-fortune

It has taken longer than expected (or so I thought) for me to resurface. I went on a two-week holiday with my folks (early June) and yet when I came back, I could not muster the will to work on any posts. I enjoy publishing these stories and knowing that someone out there is reading them or even not, basically I like the feeling of having done something. Something I really want to. Why did I need four months away? Was I developing ah-mazing content, was I revamping this webzine of sorts, was I going to be back with a BANG? Was I sad, and needed time to collect my thoughts? No, no, no and no. I just wanted to take a break; it felt good, four months was goooood and long.

And here I am! We went to Europe, visited four cities/countries there, and I could not be happier that it happened. It was not so much the food or the men, but the sights/sites that had me intoxicated. I definitely want to cover my travels in a series of smaller posts, soon – and I hope you will like reading these tales. But yeah, extremely grateful that everything worked out, and we got to visit some truly wonderful places. :-) Since coming back, I have been working on writing assignments, one illustration project (the business has come from a dear set of friends so I am happy), and another (that I hope to acquire) etc.

Erm, I am also learning a new language online (it has been two months, and I am happy with my progress so far); and I have been watching a lot of movies and shows. I need to stop! But first, let me say this – I discovered the best series yet this August, Stranger Things, it was so fucking good that I re-watched the entire series immediately after completing watching it, the first time. Uh-huh, that level of psychitude, homez!

What is with the title of this post, and the illustration?

Well, I think sometimes we all need space and time to figure ourselves out. And journeys! Not just to places, but within our minds as well. We need to breathe, be free, let go and just be. Experience things or not, develop our wits, learn lessons and move forward. We might feel like we have deeply unsettling problems and that we need cures, and yeah, maybe we do but sometimes we also do not – we are good yet missing the point. Much like the folks in this story; should you dig J.K. Rowling, you will know.

So whether you are hoping to chance upon magical keys or mirrors, ingest a few drops of a magical elixir or potion, interpret the patterns the tea leaves form in your cups, wear some quartz to tap into its energy etc. – also know that you have it in you. Failures and mistakes are okay, I am learning this better with every passing year; plus it does not seem all that nasty when I think of who I am becoming or growing into. I like this person. I have liked me for a long time now, more than I thought I could admit. I have flaws, and want to make the best of all this lesson-learning. I do not want to wither away, I would not like my work to be forgotten or deemed worthless.

HIGH BY THE BEACH

“Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.”

(This is what has been said on the Pantone website.) Never before have I felt a more powerful pull to the colours of the year! I have always been interested in knowing what the colours of the year are (ever since 2012), but this year feels special. I feel like they are connected to me in a very overall way, this year. The colours speak to me! A cool wave of tranquility washes over me… Cleansing my soul completely. I am warm, I am cool, I am tinted, I am hued, I am flawed, I am perfect. I am well!

  1. This is a collection of items that seemed to reflect my thoughts – at least, I think so! I chose them for their colouring and vibe. Also, my mermaid socks from Forever 21 (Rs. 89), and the Ruchi Opal Pendant from Accessorize (Rs. 343.50) make an appearance, here.
  2. I am very excited to begin reading The Love Letter and Other Stories by Buddhadeva Bose; I have only read one of his other books which I enjoyed immensely so yeah, I picked this one up on a whim. (The book isn’t being sold like this, I just liked how it looked without its jacket on.)
  3. I don’t remember how this little plastic, Barbie-like mermaid came into my possession, but I am not complaining. I like her!
  4. And the watercolour postcard? :-) Sonaksha posted this one across to me, and I love it so much. (Yes, it is from the same series that I was talking about earlier.)

P.S. I think it is very, very important to remember that you are the only person who can make you whole again. I was lost for a very long time, sinking slowly into a dreary depression, etc. and so I might be able to relate to someone else feeling similarly. It would be crazy town to tell you my life is idyllic RN, but it certainly is not so bad either. I have been forgetting about the little things (maybe you have, too?) – and now, I really want to devote my efforts, energy, love, money and time to create more – and, experiences.

Cheek to Cheek

I can’t remember if it was last year, or the one before that, when I was first heard of Sleek MakeUP… But I do recall reading about the brand on Magali’s blog, Blue Skies, Calm Seas & Me – and it was the blush (a very warm orange tint) that she talked about, there. Because it seemed like an unusual choice yet somehow a really flattering shade for your skin (read the full post on Em’s blog, and you will know what I mean), I thought about ordering the blush for a good, long time. Still haven’t, but recently when I was wasting time on the interwebz and going through their website, I spotted this other beautiful shade!

Okay, so at first sight, Antique (yep, that’s the name of the shade – don’t you love it more?) does appear to be rather dull but definitely earthy… I found a few reviews that were written online, and it seemed like a really, really mellow shade. The thing is that it’s kind of like a blend between earthy and mauve tones, and appears to possess faint traces of shimmer (you know how much I like shiny body and face powders)… From the blog posts that I read and pictures seen, it does look incredible on most skin tones, and ooh, it would be such a dreamy pick for summer; it’s basic, rosy, soft, understated. I WANT TO ORDER IT! (But restraining myself, just for now, SIGH.)

P.S. I don’t think it’s too expensive for $6.99 but I am not sure what it would be like totally, when you take into account its shipping charges? Luxola does not have this shade (DAMN!) though they do retail most of the other shades (talking specifically about their blush powders) from Sleek MakeUP on their website.
