Takes Two to Tangerine

231 Takes Two to Tangerine

Goa. Goa! GOA. GOA! (I miss you dearly, and deeply… ) DIGRESSION CENTRAL! To be completely honest, I love summer as much as I do winter. Of course, I’m not especially fond of commuting during the season; sweaty bodies mingling on the train, clothes sticking to your skin, that feeling like you’re melting that feels good (like you’re working out) but feels kind of crap when you’re wearing a good outfit, etc. Whatever! But it’s weird. I do like the sunlight streaming in (through the cracks). Especially when you’re sitting in a train by an open window, and some of the light gets in your eyes or warms your cheeks in selective patches… It kind of feels good! It makes me feel very happy.

Oh pooh, none of that was even remotely relevant! I need a new bathing suit or maillot (as I like to refer to it by, I’m one of those douchey Parisian-loving folks, I suppose), and I cannooooot afford this two-piece tangerine lovelie for sure but we can look at it, can we not? Of late, I’ve developed an orange crush (yes, again; remember 2011?)… And as fate would have it, spotted this marigold-like bikini by Seafolly on the Anthropologie (whoa, did you know that these guys have some seriously want-to-buy-everything kind of coolios?) website. While I’ve never really been comfortable enough in the past to ever wear a bikini, I don’t think I feel that way anymore. Who honestly really cares if you’re completely beach-body ready or not? Is that really even a thing, and why should you care as long as it makes you happy, right?

I would have normally chosen a black one for this post, and generally, perhaps IRL (I just found out what this means!), too but I think I would have gotten the tangerine one, as well. I don’t know if I could wear my many accessories with this one (perhaps a delicate waist harness like those delicate Beyoncé/J.Lo kinds + tonnes of embroidered beach bracelets like JULES?) but it would look pretty, paired with all those things. I can always, also, throw on my denim cutoffs over, and add a chiffon kimono (in a complementary print) if I was just reading at the beach, laying on the mica sands, and/or wanted to wade my feet in the foamy water later… Right? Look at me, talking as if I’ve already ordered this one. Gah!

P.S. Seafolly is some huuuuuge Australian beachwear brand apparently! Didn’t know that. No wonder it’s so expensive; both pieces are priced separately. The Goddess bandeau top is for $98, and the Goddess hipsters are for $78. CRAZY! Erm, I was also looking at some swimsuits from Mara Hoffman initially; they have some very colourful, Aztec-inspired prints (for bikinis and maillots) with some seriously sexy cut-out details. Ooh! UGH. (Don’t you wish someone would just give you a suitcase of money, sometimes? I know I’m shallow, bye.)

Look, I love to romanticise people and things okay? Er, I mean, like the fact that I don’t think I’ll ever stop getting excited about a favourite month coming along (even though it comes every year!). You already know that February tops my list but October is a special month as well. Plenty of kooky reasons, but I like ’em. Let’s raise our hats to a happy October? Yes? Yes! Okay.

“Lavender-scented baths. Birthdays. Candied apples. Halloween. Witches. Red lipstick! Orange. Nutmeg. Pumpkins. Jack-o’-lanterns! Librans. Mysteries. Witchcraft. Voodoo. Scooby-Doo! Sweater dresses. P.S If you’re interested in my work and are thinking of a collaboration or project, please write to me and direct your queries. Just please DO NOT BRAND, LABEL, STEAL or USE my work as your own. It would thoroughly anger and disappoint me, to say the least. Translation: Pilfer my stuff, and you could die.
