Aquamarine

223 Aquamarine

Ooh, sorry for waxing poetic – Nay, oceanic – about aquamarine hues! When I was little, I always maintained that my favourite colour was blue. Or I would tell people random things, how much I liked (and still love, to this day) looking at swimming pools; I think mermaids just could be real (oh, humour me – won’t you, please?), I found myself to be an ardent collector of sea stories (and shells), and enjoyed making castles of sand, and well, just all kinds of ocean-related crazies.

I think over the years though, the blues darkened and I fell in LOVE with black, fast and very hard… But I guess I still always really liked the colour blue. Sorry, I know this sounds like some weirdo romantic escapade! :-( Okay, cutting several anecdotes short to include in this story, I think you know that I have been crushing over blue, green, mint, teal hues ever since last year… Erm, the “Minaj Wedding”, yougaiz! These tints that just soften a look, or pop an outfit oh-so-dreamily.

1. Nika Brooch, And Smile – $17.30

Ordered this brooch pin (and the other one in the picture) from Viktorija Semjonova, last year. I will not get into specifics because I already wrote about these lovely, water-colour prints before.

2. Turquoise Ombre Gathered Maxi Dress, bhane. – Rs. 950

Been thinking about this oceanie/mermaid dress on bhane. for a long, long time now! I think it’s just so pretty, and also, I’ve never ordered from bhane. before. Ooh, I want to!

3. Isis Necklace, Lune – Rs. 500; Laura Brooch, And Smile – $17.30

This is one of my favourite pictures from this shoot! I bought the book a couple of years ago, and don’t remember if I liked it all that much but the cover? SIGH. That cover! The key charm necklace is from Sreesha’s shop; I like its broken quality – makes me think of vintage houses, you know?

4. CASUAL Sea Salt Texturising Spray, TONI & GUY (200 ml) – Rs. 1,050

Erm, okay, so sue me! Bought this on a whim, I had heard about it a bit, yeah, and thought it might be fun to try out. So, it smells really good, and I’ve been using it to style my hair messily as opposed to having actual bedhead, lolol, and yeah, to weave braids into my messy knot thingie. I think I got excited mostly by the mention of SEA SALT, alone.

5. Sreesha Necklace, The Jupiter Skye Shop – Rs. 480

Aha! The Jupiter Skye Shop exiiiists, you all! RO CAN HAZ SHOP! I am being tardy with uploading more jewellery and stationery frequently, but look out – There will be lovelies that you will want to order. Ah, endless hope.

{ What else is in the picture? 1. Cream White Lace Bralette, Forever 21 – Rs. 679; 2. Brazilian Knickers in Emerald Green, Marks & Spencer – Rs 599; 3. Eternal Love Pendant (Triquetra), Accessorize – Rs. 695; 4. Ear Cuff (Dancing Skulls), Colaba Causeway – Rs. 90; 5. Psychedelic Feather Earring, Dryad – Rs. 500; 6. Mystical Glass Box (Hexagon), The Home Label – Rs. 640; 7. Rhinestone Teardrop Earrings, Accessorize – Rs. 403.50; 8. Express Finish Vernis Séchage in 865 Turquoise Green, Maybelline New York – Rs. 220 }

(HELLO, HOW ARE YOU?: Wanted to get your attention to tell you that none of these clothes, products or whatevers were sponsored for this post; everything’s been bought by me and all views are naturally my own. Probably, sadly, too! Also, if you are my friend in real life, you will know that I have not worn many of these lovelies just as yet… OUI, I AM A HOARDER.)

Lady in the Water

222 Lady in the Water

Do you know how much good it does your heart; when you’re standing on the shore of a beach and you can feel the dry but soft mica granules under your toes, warming your soles, you’re thinking things and watching the waves crash against each other and hearing the call of the ocean, and in an instant, your feet are graced with a jet of frothy, bubbly, delicious molecules of sea water? ♥ There’s no feeling quite like it! Except if you’re probably reading a book on the sand after a quick swim, letting the rays of the sun warm your bare skin and kiss your hair.

What are these feelings? Describe them, please. So… Like when if you close your eyes for too long, you miss that swish of an aquamarine fin on a glorious tail disappearing under the water – and you don’t know it now. You never do. Nobody ever does… There’s magic. Does stringing together random thoughts of beautiful people and places around us make it poetic? What is this? What are you saying? I thought you would think of a picture. Or a person! Think, now. Everything’s magic. Incoherence of speech is an ailment common among us ocean folk. Breaks us down, and builds us up again. Sandcastles, in reverse…

Scatter your thoughts about… And, begin again. Feel the vibe of the ocean as it calls out to you, as it asks for you to seek its treasures. Look for the little shells, the really tiny, textured surface ones… They’re a creamy colour! What do you think? How many hexadecimal codes of the colour blue is the sky made up of? Have you ever thought of that? Which is the constellation you look for, when you look up in to the inky sky after the sun has set, and the beach is eery, beautiful, calm, and seems like it’s whispering; can you smell that?

Did you do that, ever? Erm, you know… Fill a bottle with a paper scripted with a beautiful thought, and fling it into the ocean? Why haven’t you done that? Actually, I haven’t – either. I will, soon! Did you leave silly messages in the sand? Write someone’s name down? :-) Randomness is good, it makes you feel things… Listen to the call of the ocean. The waters are beckoning you, closer… One step, yes, that’s it. Two steps… Ooh, it’s chilly! Ah, but it feels so nice. There, you set it free… Farewell, dearest.

A Skye Full of Stars

190 A Skye Full of Stars

Wow, I can’t remember the last time I wrote here! No, seriously. It has been quite a while for me to not even have an inkling of what’s going on with this space. I don’t have a great, big explanation – just have been mentally occupied with work and in a relaxed state of mind during the weekends, in the process – I suppose I took a mini-vacation from my blog, itself. I didn’t feel as horrible about it as I usually do, I mean I definitely missed writing here but I was too pooped in the brain to care. Besides, inspiration was lacking. (I didn’t want to write posts for the sake of publishing them!) I decided I would come back only when I had some time off from it, good ideas and better promises on making this space “ah-mazing”.

And now I’m here! Back to where I started. Well, mostly. I feel excited, and lovely, and good to be here! I’ve also decided something. Two somethings! I need to craft a Rate Card for my work (This includes all the artworks and illustrations that I usually undertake on a commission basis, for home-made businesses and other folks.) and er, for my blog, too (If there are good collaborations I wouldn’t mind doing, that come my way… Let’s see! This bit is still a thought.). Yes! Let’s clink to new things. There’s a lot more on my mind right now, but putting it all down on paper… er, public paper, is slightly risqué so I’m shutting up, now. Thanks for reading! (And for taking part in the Charmed giveaway. The winner is Mishana Khot! Announced it on my Facebook and Twitter pages a few weeks ago. I’m confident of hosting a few more giveaways this year, so I hope you’ll take part in those, too?)

P.S. Ghost Stories is my favourite, new Coldplay album, as you can probably tell. The names of the tracks, and artworks, are what caught my attention. Good stuff! Listen to A Sky Full of Stars and Magic first, if you can. Perfect sounds for my magical, monsoon mind. #AlliterationAlert #GoodGawd

The Gift of La Magie { GIVEAWAY }

188 The Gift of La Magie { GIVEAWAY } - 2Okay, giveaway # 2, here we come! This one applies to everyone who wants to enter – in the country (if you are overseas and want to enter, and have a friend here in the country who can collect your goodie for you – then by all means, enter away!). But I’m counting my cookies before they come out of the oven! This giveaway is themed after my favourite show of the moment, Charmed; I’ve been re-watching all the seasons. (Contains a bit of magic, aye!)

What’s in the Box?

1. The Gypsy Necklace from Rosecraft by Roanna Fernandes (giggle-giggle, yeah, that’s me!). (This is a necklace holding a gypsy charm that I’ve created. There are a few more of the same variety, which I hope to sell – at some point.)

2. Message in a Bottle – A delicate vial (that looks a lot like a potion bottle) I bought at Al-Zamil Stores when I was in The Kingdom, a month before the last; of course, I’ll be adding a personal touch for that Charmed effect. (If you’re into that sort of thing!)

3. A Pointing Crystal Necklace from Lune by Sreesha Shetty. (Far by, my favourite! Ordered an amethyst crystal+quartz necklace from Sreesha Shetty for which this magical giveaway would have been incomplete without! Especially this ONE, that’s somewhat similar to the one they use on Charmed when scrying for magical beings, or witches.

4. Rustic wooden jewellery tray from Dhoop – An old-fashioned, wooden container shaped like the stump of a tree (well, somewhat); I’ve painted the containing hollow with matte gold for a magical effect. Would this be something that interests you?

Rules?

The rules are simple! This giveaway is for Indian residents, only. International giveaways, commencing soon.

1. Comment below saying why you would want to win this (THIS ISN’T OPTIONAL, SADLY! Well, d-uh.), and tell me your current favourite supernatural/witchcraft-ish book/magazine/movie/show of the moment (this part is optional!). Okay, so my comments are moderated – don’t fret if you don’t see yours published immediately! (And please don’t forget to add your e-mail address in the details box so I have yours saved on my system; I’ll need it to get in touch.)

2. For brownie points – feel free (well, not really, hahaha!)  to ‘Like’ my page on Facebook, and follow me on Twitter! :-)

What happens after?

I’ll choose ONE winner in exactly two weeks, from now – save the date – June 24 is when this contest comes to an end! As soon as I announce the winner – which will either be on my Facebook or Twitter page (and through an e-mail, perhaps) –  please write back to me with your postal address and phone number right away. I’ll mail the package across then, immediately through speed post!

The “Fourth Year of Festivities” is yours for taking! Giveaway-gift-makin’. Good luck!
