I am not sure how to begin writing this post, exactly… Only because I tend to repeat myself, or usually start with, “Okay, so... ” or “Erm, to… ” Why don’t I have a cool catchphrase? Would be SWEET if I did! Do you have one? What would my life be like if I didn’t have a blog to look after? Not in the arrogant sense, more like, “Would it be easier to just be, and not over-think and not have to jot down every idea that I had?” Yikes, I don’t know! (Does this feel like what it would be like when you have a baby?) I can’t stop over-thinking, and yet I hate thinking about these things. Talk about a rubbish intro paragraph, and I wanted to have a catchphrase (shut it, bro).
Okay (turns out that I can’t get rid of it yet), so a few weeks ago, Radhika (Malhotra) of Sugar & Spice e-mailed me because she wanted to have a cool, new header created for her blog; I remember being very interested about the project because the name itself had so much potential, I was thinking of conjuring jars of magical sprinkles and cake-mixers blending secret-looking ingredients in bowls and well, all sorts of objects, because erm… SUGAR AND SPICE – Commonplace as the phrase is, something about it is very charming, enchanting even. (Radhika is a Delhi-based blogger who makes desserts and food, mostly – and covers all related recipes on her blog; she also loves composing and shooting the pictures for all of her posts.)
We both came up with very many ideas that were exchanged over a couple of e-mails… Radhika decided that she liked the idea most of Sugar & Spice being illustrated as a logo unit (in a typeface format, along with her signature). So, it was a header-style artwork that won her heart ultimately, wherein Sugar & Spice and all of her favourite ingredients and tools were illustrated colourfully! Also, we finally settled for a different typeface in the overall artwork but this is the one I used originally which made me like this version more, heh. (I can’t decide what I like the most… The jar of Nutella, slab of butter, or ooh, the eggs, camera – yes, I was inspired by the Lomography ones, the cake-mixer, lemons, etc. Ooh, definitely the sprinkles!)
P.S. This is the second dessert-ish related artwork/logo (I think The Vanilla Bean Bakery was the first) that I’ve worked on formally for someone, and I LOOOOOVE working on projects like these… Because it makes me very happy to be able to draw things to eat. :-)

There is something I have thought about, and as plain as the months seem, i.e. March and April; they have seen me through some pretty harsh stuff… They have felt like my personal “new years” from ever since I can remember! Okay, and these trying, yet amazingly good times happen to fall around during whenever Easter comes around, and it doesn’t seem like a silly thing to admit, honestly. (BELIEVE WHAT YOU BELIEVE, BRO!)
Okay, so I am offering up my peace into the universe, blowing some of the yin and yang dust from the palms of my hands into the winds of pattern, hoping they bring you peace, too. Ooh, and thank you divine forces! With time, I will reveal more. (Good writing, on the cards, of the variety that brings one a bit of $$$$; and I completed work on a very, very yummerie illustration for a customer. Will definitely be writing a tell-all post on the illustration here, so you can see everything that I drew for her. Wow, it feels good to believe in yourself, doesn’t it?)
Because maybe you were thinking it, and have I already said this before? I think if you like drawing and illustrating too, and might want to be able to digitally create pieces of art on a slightly moderate level, I think you should order the same tablet that I am using to draw/doodle. (THE BEST 8000 BUCKS EVER SPENT! ER, THIS FROM A GIRL WHO SPENT MORE THAN THAT ON A BOTTLE OF PERFUME ONCE. OKAY, LAST YEAR. MAYBE WE’LL TALK ABOUT THIS LATER?) Every time that I use the tablet to draw, I find the activity equally delightful and frustrating (this is only when my cursive scripts come out looking crappy); and practising will make me somewhat perfect – soon – I hope. For now, feel free to love/hate these handwriting type posts of mine, friends.
P.S. Okay, so the product reviews will be back soon; I haven’t been shooting very much, of late. But there are so many random products (and clothes, accessories, etc.) that I have bought/collected/enjoying/hating/hoarding over the months that I really want to talk about with folks who get it. Erm, you! And yep, there are four new bracelets that will show up in the shop, soon. These, I am too exciiiiited about! :-)

I like Christmas tons better than I like Easter (December is far more festive), but I have to say that this time, the Easter season has been nice. Even special (nuh-uh, I didn’t give up anything for Lent though now I wish I had)! Maybe it’s because I got to celebrate the fact that I’m embarking on a new journey, in an odd sort of way. It was definitely not planned but it just happened around the same time as Lent and I do feel like I’ve risen from the dead too (P.S I love you Jesus)! I’m treating my new life delicately, almost like I’m walking on eggs (I’m unsure of what to expect from it all because pursuing your ONE true dream can be scary).
And this artwork happens to be one of the new markers along the path to the rest of my life because as some of you know (well, mostly my friends), I’m going to be concentrating all my energies on my designing, illustrating and writing skills for both my label, Rosecraft and blog, Jupiter Skye. I won’t say more.
Happy Easter, Everyone. :-)
P.S I feel compelled to write that I hope that none of you (those of you who might be reading this post) would, at some future point, steal my illustration. If you’re interested in my work and would like to know more, please write to me and direct your queries. But yeah, please DO NOT BRAND, LABEL, STEAL or USE my work as your own. It would thoroughly anger and disappoint me, to say the least.
