Magique is Might

166 Magique is MightEver since I heard about Kajal Magique by L’Oréal Paris, I was very interested in checking it out at the mall especially because of two things: a) The name! (I love the word, Magique.), and b) Um, the colouring! (I like pink packaging, and I cannot lie.) Two weeks ago, someone from the L’Oréal Paris team e-mailed me to ask if I would like to review it!

As you can see in the collage, I really like the packaging, and this is something that would have struck you, too – that the product is very similar to The Colossal Kajal by Maybelline and Eyeconic by Lakmé. I  have tried the Maybelline one once or twice but swear by their pot of kajal ever since I discovered it so I can’t really compare the two (nor have I tried Eyeconic). I don’t know if my pictures suck (especially the last one), the kajal (the L’Oréal Paris one) is quite smoky in a sense. Yes, intense, like it says but not something I would use if I wanted to give my eyes a winged look, perhaps? Do you know what I mean? On the other hand, I like it because it’s a great eyeliner to use in the morning when you’re running out of time while getting dressed – and when I wore it the night before, it did last me for about eight hours, maybe? (On the package, it says that the Kajal Magique stays on for about 12 hours, without smudging.)

Okay, so a quick review? I think the L’Oréal Paris eyeliner is a perfect everyday make-up essential – easy to slip into your purse, and wear – when needed. For the price, which is Rs. 245, it seems a bit much when you compare it to other similar offerings in the market. But it’s L’Oréal Paris after all, and I’ve always thought of them as an-older-sister-kind-of brand. And now that I’m older and can afford it, paying this much for a regular eyeliner doesn’t seem too crazy.

P.S. If you want quick, precise strokes, Kajal Magique might not be the eyeliner you’re looking for (I mean, like winged corners and other fancy make-up tricks). The effect it lends to your eyes is more like an intense, smoky charcoal, which is good enough for me!

  1. This looks good! I like the smokiness, it’s a great base for an actual smoky eye. I’ve been on a kohl kick off late, sometimes at midnight I’ll put on some just to practise & because it looks nice. :) I haven’t tried this L’Oreal one but I am currently playing with the Lakme Eyeconic ones.
